When your 2026 tax return is due
You file your 2026 federal return by April 15, 2027.
File Form 4868, the extension request, by April 15 to file by October 15; you still pay by April 15.
Washington has no 2026 income tax; if you owe its capital gains tax on long-term gains, file by April 15.

Employee stock plan cost basis
For option and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) shares from grants after 2013, your broker reports a Form 1099-B basis without the income on your W-2. We raise the basis, your tax cost for the shares, on Form 8949, so the IRS does not tax that income twice.

Check which tax forms you need
Send us your income sources, and we tell you what to gather before you book.
Check which forms I needCPA tax preparation or tax software
The IRS holds you accountable for every item on your return, whoever prepares it. With software, you fill in the forms yourself. We ask about a home sale, a new rental or a vested grant, because you can owe tax after each one.
CPAs and enrolled agents can represent you before the IRS on any tax matter. A CPA or enrolled agent on our team can answer an IRS letter about your return.
Married filing jointly or separately
If you are not sure how to file as a couple, we prepare your joint return and two separate returns, then compare the joint tax with the separate returns' total. For the separate returns, we split community income, which Washington treats as earned by both spouses, on Form 8958.

"Very happy with the quick responses and knowledge given this year for the tax return. Been using this company for the past 12 years, a few staff changes and all, but overall very pleased."
How we price tax preparation
We quote your return after we see your income sources, from these factors:
- How many income sources you have
- Stock sales and crypto trades you report
- How many rental properties you own
- Returns you file in other states
- Whether we compare joint and separate filing
A single W-2 return with no other income is the lightest case.
These are the factors, not a quote. You see the price before we prepare your return.
